Family has always been the foundation of everything I do. I have two sons, Omar and Calvin Jr., and three wonderful grandchildren—Alanna, Mikaela, and my youngest grandson, Marley, who keeps everyone smiling. I’m also the proud owner of my dog, Sir Westly Jackson Witherspoon, who is very much a member of the family.

Outside of work, I spent 25 years enjoying life on the water as an avid fisherman and boater. After selling my boat, I realized that while those years created many great memories, I haven’t missed boating nearly as much as I expected. These days, I enjoy spending my free time with my family and continuing to serve the customers who have supported my business for decades.

My flooring career began more than 44 years ago in an unexpected way. I started by picking up and delivering vacuum cleaners while cleaning carpet and upholstery. The company I worked for also sold carpet, and their installer needed extra help. Since my father had given me a van, I was offered the opportunity to subcontract for flooring companies—and I quickly discovered a career I truly enjoyed.

Over the years, I gained valuable experience working with respected flooring companies throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania, including Delaware Valley Carpet in Bristol, Carpeteria in Hatfield and Quakertown, Michael D’s (now Floors USA) in King of Prussia, and Bee Jay Carpet in Lansdale. Each opportunity allowed me to sharpen my installation skills and build the foundation for my future business.

After years of installing flooring, I realized that growing professionally meant doing more than installation alone. I began selling flooring directly to homeowners while continuing to install it myself. What started as the goal of completing one job a week quickly grew into two and three projects each week.

More than 23 years ago, I founded CMW Carpet Co., LLC, focusing on honest service, quality workmanship, and treating every customer’s home with care. I’ve never looked back, and I continue to enjoy helping homeowners choose the right flooring for their homes.

Owning a flooring business has taught me valuable lessons, especially during the economic downturn of 2008. While many businesses struggled, the experience challenged me to become a better business owner and expand my knowledge beyond carpet installation.

Working alongside an experienced partner gave me the opportunity to master hardwood flooring, sheet vinyl, luxury vinyl, laminate, and other flooring systems. As someone who enjoys working with my hands and learning new skills, expanding into every type of flooring became second nature. Today, that experience allows me to confidently recommend and professionally install the best flooring solution for every homeowner’s needs.
